SOSYAL MEDYA VE AKADEMİK BAŞARI: İNÖNÜ ÜNİVERSİTESİ ÖĞRENCİLERİ ÜZERİNDE BİR ALAN ARAŞTIRMASI

Abstract

Günümüz teknoloji çağının önemli getirilerinden birisi olan sosyal medya tüm dünyada yoğun bir şekilde kullanılmaktadır ve bu kullanımın çoğunu genç nüfus oluşturmaktadır. Hayatımızın her alanında etkileri hissedilen sosyal medyanın özellikle eğitim amaçlı kullanımı ve genç nüfusun eğitimi üzerindeki rolü önemli bir merak konusu oluşturmaktadır. Bu araştırma da bu merak duygusuna bağlı olarak yapılmıştır. Nitekim, bu araştırmanın amacı hedef kitle olarak seçilen üniversite öğrencilerinin akademik başarıları üzerinde sosyal medya rolünü ortaya koymaktır. Bu kapsamda İnönü Üniversitesi lisans öğrencileri üzerinde anket uygulaması ile veri toplanmıştır. Yapılan değerlendirmeler sonucunda, eğitim amaçlı olarak sosyal medya ve sosyal medya araçlarının kullanımının derslerde ve ders sonrası çalışmalarda eğlenerek öğrenmeyi sağladığı, grup kurma ve kaynak paylaşımları ile toplulukçu öğrenme hissini arttırdığı, hoca- öğrenci ilişkilerini güçlendirdiği, iletişim yeteneklerini arttırdığı ve çok yönlü düşünme becerisini kazandırarak akademik başarı üzerinde pozitif etkilerinin olduğu gözlemlenmiştir

Abstract

Social media, one of the most important achievements of today's technology age, is being used extensively all over the world and the majority of this use is the young population. Especially for educational purposes and the role of social media on the education of the young population, the effects of which are felt in all areas of our life constitute an important curiosity. This research has been done due to this curiosity. The aim of this research is to reveal the social media role on the academic achievement of selected university students as the target audience. For this purpose, a questionnaire was applied to undergraduate students of Inönü University. As a result of the evaluations, it was found out that the use of social media and social media tools for educational purposes allows students to learn by having fun in lessons and after-hours activities, to increase group-building and resource sharing and collectivist learning, to strengthen student-student relationships, to enhance communication skills, positive effects on achievement were observed.
